BRITISH SAANEN - ANGLO-NUBIAN - BRITISH - TOGGENBURG
WHOLE HERD CAE MONITORED
SAC SCRAIPE MONITORED
MULTIPLE FULL AND BREED CHAMPION MALES & FEMALES
The Mineshop herd was started in 1975 with a goat named R105 Sandalwood Saki whose dam was Sandlewood Strega. The Ashdene herd as it stands today also descends from a daughter of Strega as did also the Dresden white family.
From Saki was bred R178 Mineshop Mandy Q* and this was the beginning of The Mineshop British Saanens M Family that we have today. In the early 80’s I bought an old BS Parkvale Virginian and it was two sons of hers by different males used on Mandy and a daughter that are the forebears of today’s family.
The best quality males have always been kept or used for stud, with Ashdene and Toddbrook males to the fore.
The herd has been Officially Milk Recorded from the start and is currently on the 9th generation of
RM and AR milkers. The family has Good fats and proteins and has to date achieved Q*9 status.
in recent years this family has produced several BrCh and CH goats including R175 Mineshop Monika Q*8 BrCh, CH R177 Mineshop Mulberrie Q* BrCh and CH RM226 Mineshop Morae Q*8 BrCh who also won the Ashdene Metephor Trophy with her 1st lactation figure, several other M line Goats have also been Awarded CC and BCCs at various shows.
Our males have done well for other herds especially males such as SM $210/121Mineshop Mordechai BrCh (brother to Monika) who has produced CH RM157 Cossin Chai Q*9 BrCh, CH 177 Leatland Heidi Q* BrCh , R225 Leatland Silky *BrCh and the well Known R160 Leatland Sonya * who only requires her Q* to also be a FULL CHAMPION.
As an add on to the M line we purchased Toddbrook Diamond in 2010 as a kid. I had long admired CH R256 Toddbrook Valaquenta Q* and had hoped for a male but she had triplet females instead so we decided a female was not such a bad idea. Diamond was nothing special as a kid and definitely not a showy goatling but how she has blossomed as a milker, with 7.4kg highest show yield as a 1st kidder !! she was awarded many CMs and had many IPCCs She needed 2 CCs to be a full champion.
With Diamonds only kidding she produced us CH AR195 Mineshop Dayleah Q*2 BrCh who as a 1st kidder was the bridesmaid behind several of her stable mates and did not have quite the yield her mother had as a 1st kidder but Dayleah cam into her own as a 2nd kidder and gained her BrCh status along with a Q* CCs and an IPCC and was run through into 2016 where she was either Best or Reserve Best in show at almost every show she attended even winning best milker and Best in show at the BS breed show.
Its worth mentioning that one of our most influential males of recent year has to be SM CH Ashdene Mario BrCh who we had as a kid and as a Buckling was unbeaten in male class every time he was shown
his real achievement was the daughter he has produce they have all milked well within our herd all gaining Q* status, they have gained many best goatling , best milker , best in show, BrCh and CH awards.
we are lucky to have had semen collected to be able to use this excellent male again in future years

The herd is also made up of several other Breeds including Anglo Nubian, Toggenburg and in the past it has been a Home to British Toggenburgs and British Alpines also.
The current herd of Anglo Nubians come from 4 families:
Family 1 was started with R147 Mallow Bartsia * who produced RM169 Mineshop Bara *1 who was highest recorded AN in 2010
Family 2 are descended from 2 sisters that were imported from Holland who have a pedigree including old English families and an influence of American Blood.
Milkers from this family have won many AN milking competitions and have even had highest milk points in show several times.
They excel in fats and proteins and have been winning AN classes with R120 Mineshop Gazania Q* being awarded 10 BCCs at the time of writing this, making her a BrCh. She even gained IPCCs.
Family 3 starts with an import from 2012 from Holland, she is "Imported Chaviva", again combining some excellent English and Dutch families with some very nice American lines.
As a 1st kidder Chaviva became R124 Imported Chaviva Q* BrCh winning 9 BCCs and also taking the BEST IN SHOW award at the 2014 ANGLO NUBIAN BREED SHOW.
As A 2nd Kidder she Gained 4 CCs and 6IPCCs making her now a FULL CHAMPION and at her 1st show of 2015 she broke the UK Record for the highest 24hour Show yield with 8.65KG of milk.
Family 4 and the newest line starting with R128 Imported Abigaile Q* Brch who has ancestry combining several of the other imported lines. she joined us from the Ashdene herd and just like all the other imported Nubians we have she was bred by Goffe De boer

The Toggenburg family is the least numerous of the breeds we keep but have achieved success in their own right none the less
The foundation goats were Devonberry Arunson who only requires a qualified Daughter for his BrCh and R120 Brooks Claire *1 (BrCh) who gainded and held 7 BCCs in 2013 and was also best milker and best in show at the Toggenburg show held in conjustion with the breed show that year
the other branch of our Toggenburg familys was very short lived she was Charlgrove Zoe who was a very elegant goat with a beautiful udder but breeding her was not so easy and after cloud bursts and a C-section we only had one male kid to show for this effort,he was Mineshop Zacharias and we had semen collected for use at a later date
Zacs 1st daughter who is owned and bred by miss Laura Ketley is very impressive and has won several BCCs as a 1st kidder
There is a high influence of Meadowlark blood in our Toggs and with the use of AI we hope to add some of the old blood back into this struggling breed.
